World Environment Day (WED) is the biggest annual event for positive environmental action and takes place every 5 June.
WED 2019 was celebrated in Faculty Higher Secondary School, North Guwahati on the 4th of June 2019 in its pristine form by planting a sapling. This befitting initiative was led by revered Principal, Mr. Jugal Chandra Borah; TIC (Secondary Section), Mr. Dilip Kr. Sarkar; School Coordinator, Dr. Rekha Choudhury; School Head Girl and School Vice Captain. Another important feature embellishing the celebration was the "Cleanliness Drive" steered by Hon'ble Managing Trustee,Mr. Pradip Kumar Bhuyan. A team of teachers and students actively participated in the drive with a primary objective of keeping our surroundings clean.This drive was exercised mainly to instill, in the young generation, a sense of responsibility towards our environment.

The themes of the day for various events and contests included : "Nature" , "Environment ", "Speeches that inspired you" and "Hues of nature".

The events/activities inclusive of the celebration were :

PRIMARY SECTION : Finger Printing Poster Making Collage Making

MIDDLE SECTION : Quiz, Solo Recitation, Canvas painting

SECONDARY SECTION : Quiz, Declamation, Canvas Painting, Photography

Besides creating an awareness about the significance of the day, these events provided an opportunity to broaden the views and responsibilities of the students in preserving and enriching the environment. Adding to the extravaganza, on the same very day the School was awarded with the Best School Award at the Donbosco Eco Fest where students of FHSS participated in the events of Eco Quiz, Battle of Bands and Doodle Art adding feathers to the festivities of the day.
